Municipalities on the move

Questions from public managers

How does a municipality join Categoriza Brasil?

The health surveillance manager contacts the Categoriza Brasil team to sign the membership agreement and draft the municipal regulation.

How much does it cost for an establishment to be graded?

It depends on what the municipal regulation sets. Categorization is part of the health surveillance inspection activities.

How long is the seal valid?

Each municipal government sets the period in the municipal regulation. The suggestion is two years for the A seal, a year and a half for the B seal and one year for the C seal.

Is a “Pending” establishment closed down?

Pending means unacceptable sanitary quality: the place does not receive a seal. In these cases, health surveillance takes enforcement measures to protect consumers, which may include shutting down its activities.
